Abstract:
'Refraction of light is the change of direction of a wave due to a change in its transmission medium, in other words is the bending of a wave, when it enters a medium where its speed is different.' (Lawrence M. ,1977)
This project is a time based media installation created by the projection of a small video of a movement in loop. The projection will be reflected by small pieces of mirror in the space of the projection and on the viewers. The video is edited and the process of editing is part of the medium and the concept.
The refraction of movement is the bending of the body when it enters a specific digital space where its speed is changed in time.
This project is based on the theories about space in relation to the digital image and time. It is built on the meaning of the cosmos, immaterialities and also values of the images. Key words are visual production, consumption, web media, and movement. This project overlaps with the development of digital technologies as digital video, based on new experiences of movement in the process of which new ways of understanding space, image, movement and time are created.
The objective of this project is to bring together digital media, anthropology, visual arts and studies, dance and any other field, which is interested in space and digital.
More over goal of this project is to expand on what has so far been VISUAL 'REALITY' and create questions of :
Space
Movement
Sensorial
Digital
The editing process became the medium itself and forces the viewers to consider meanings, purposes and establishes attitudes toward video editing.
The space between the viewers must pass between 2 contrasting image sequences. First sequence is peaceful, calm, still (video projection) and second sequence is chaotic, violent and intense (reverse reflection of the video in the space) .
This work can be also perceived as a universal metaphor for visual reality, thought which the familiar became the unfamiliar.
The focus is not on the film-making, but on the medium itself and its presentation in any space (digital or not) .
Most of our recent work is concerned with media, communication technologies and representation and it can be seen to have built on Pop Art Ideas and Conceptualism.
Based on the fact that everything (in the meaning of existence) are dependent with the quantum vacuum, including all living beings, the conviction of some people that we are living outside this phenomenon, is wrong. There is no logical escape from this phenomenon and the key point in this, found its routes in the changing process of the sense of reality.
